Feel free to add any apps, websites, and/or programs you love to use in your work.

At the end of the semester, we will have a great list of resources!

I love to use a freeware program called HiJackThis. I know it sounds ominous, but it is really a useful tool that allows you to see what programs are hooked into your browser. If you are getting strange pop-ups that you cannot get rid of or strange re-directs, this program allows you to remove them from your browser. This software is for intermediate or advanced users and if misused can mess up your browser. (Keith Kingsbury)

If you are tired of registering for things and then having your email filled with spam, try this great tool: www.tenminutemail.com This site creates an email account that lives for only ten minutes and then expires. This is just enough time for you to register, have your "valid" email address checked and then the clock stops. This helps keep your inbox clean and spammers out. (Keith Kingsbury)

www.wallwisher.com Easy website that allows a teacher to post a question and get feedback from students. A fellow third grade teacher used this for his class last year. Take a peak. Upper grade levels may enjoy this FREE cool tool as a side project. - Greg Lemoine

www.voicethread.com This is a fantastic website (Free unprotected but paid education version is protected). Teachers can post a video, audio, or visual artifact and have students comment. It is similar to a classroom discussion around an artifact. Check out the following link for an Example from a 6th grader. I used this in several grades from 6-9. - Greg Lemoine

www.keepvid.com Embedding Youtube videos into presentations. This site allows you to download youtube videos to your computer in multiple formats so you can Embed the video into a PowerPoint presentation (for example). *I will post a walkthrough if I can find it. Try this out and teach your students. Embedding a video into a presentation is a powerful step up from linking or streaming. - Greg Lemoine

www.ted.com This website is amazing. The homepage heading is: Riveting talks by remarkable people, free to the world. People pay thousands of dollars to see these speakers LIVE but the videos are online for free. This is worth bookmarking! in delicious. - Greg Lemoine

Comics? Ever have your students (gr 6 - 12) express themselves with comics? Try out these two free sites: ToonDoo and Pixton . Toondoo turned out to be most favorite from my student focus groups. Pixton took too long to load up to the local machine. Both sites have pluses and minuses. Try them out for yourselves and get to those graphic artists and cartoonists in your classes! Both can be taught in a class period and students can post to multiple social sites or email in to the teacher. Two thumbs up for each. - Greg

Word Clouds are super sweet...Wordle is cool, but Tagxedo is WAYYY cooler. It allows you to save easier, print, etc. You can also choose a ton of different shapes. I did the Emancipation Proclamation in the shape of Abraham Lincoln.
